About me

Therapy provides a space in which you can talk about the things that you can't talk about, or in a way that you can't talk about them, anywhere else. It's a unique space where you can talk about what matters to you with someone who will listen attentively and work carefully with you to make sense of your experience in a way that helps you feel more comfortable in yourself.
I trained as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist with Nafsiyat Intercultural Therapy Centre and UCL Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences and qualified just over 20 years ago; since then I've worked in the NHS, voluntary sector and in private practice. I have worked with men and women from all sorts of backgrounds from rough sleepers to millionaires, from many continents, countries and cultures, at different stages of their lives from going to college to drawing their pensions, and with multiple sexualities.
Many of those who come to therapy feel confused about their social, cultural or sexual identities; some bring histories of sexual, physical or emotional abuse, rape, or other trauma; some come because of relationship problems, or breakdowns; some have a multiplicity of issues they want to explore, some a single problem they’re struggling to resolve. In short, clients bring their own individual stories and experiences, and the individual issues that are troubling them.
If you come to see me, then it will be about whatever it is that matters to you, whatever it is that is making you seek therapy at this time in your life. What I will try to do is to put my training and experience to work for you and with you, to understand what the experiences or issues you bring mean for you, in your context and your life, and to explore what you want to do with them.
