Sue Armstrong

BACP Registered Counsellor

About me

Over the years I have become deeply interested in what it is to be human. How we make connections with others. How we find a place of belonging and what makes for a meaningful life. Clients often contact me feeling anxious, distressed, or overwhelmed. They may feel like they don't 'fit' or be searching for 'more'.

I have a relaxed, collaborative style and practice from a place which values uniqueness and diversity. I welcome you, as you. Our work will offer you the opportunity to explore what is troubling you and to understand what really matters to you. We can 'try out' new ways of being and work to connect you more fully to your inner resources. I believe that in ‘coming home to ourselves’ we will discover our inner wisdom, strength and healing potential.

I started my career as a social worker and have over 15 years of work experience supporting people with feelings of anxiety, depression and a sense of disconnect from themselves and others. This may play out in addictions, relationship problems, stress at work or maybe a general feeling of 'stuckness'.

My therapy training has included 5 years of intensive training in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at The Minster Centre and The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education. I am currently writing an MA dissertation on what it means to live an ‘unboxed’ life, what this offers us in terms of fluidity, freedom from the ‘rule book’, and fostering a healthy relationship with ourselves and what brings meaning to our lives.

Alongside my private practice I work with two charities one supporting single parents, the other working with clients with a positive HIV status.

I bring me, my life and work experience and my training to the work with my clients today, supporting them with the issues they bring. I would very much like to hear from you if you are interested in exploring how we might work together.

Although Therapport Limited, the owner of the practice, is thorough in checking the qualifications, insurance and professional registration of each of our practitioners, the relationship is ultimately between the client and the practitioner themselves. Therapport Limited provides space for clinicians and is not responsible for the clinical work they provide. Sue Armstrong is a BACP Registered Counsellor, therefore the complaints should be direct to British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
