UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist

About me

My name is Ula and I am a UKCP and MBACP registered Gestalt Psychotherapist, Integrative and Gestalt Clinical Supervisor, and EMDR therapist. I work with individuals and couples, and offer clinical supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists.

I have worked therapeutically since 2008 across a range of settings, supporting people experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship difficulties, addiction, major life transitions and complex mental health needs. My background in education has also given me extensive experience of working with young people, families and neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism.

As a Gestalt therapist, I pay particular attention to relationships, emotions, the body and the patterns we develop in order to cope with life. Many of these patterns once made perfect sense but can eventually leave us feeling stuck, disconnected or repeatedly finding ourselves in the same situations. Therapy offers a space to understand these patterns with curiosity rather than judgement and to experiment with different ways of being.

Alongside Gestalt psychotherapy, I am trained in EMDR and integrate it into my work with complex trauma and difficult past experiences when appropriate.

I also work with couples, drawing particularly on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I help couples recognise the emotional cycle they become caught in, understand what sits underneath their reactions, and develop safer and more connected ways of relating to each other.

For therapists and counsellors, I offer both Integrative and Gestalt Clinical Supervision. My supervision style is relational, reflective and appropriately challenging. I am interested in the client, the therapeutic relationship, clinical decision making and what happens between therapist and client. I also pay attention to the emotional impact of the work on the practitioner and support supervisees in developing confidence in their own therapeutic voice and way of working.

My original professional background is in secondary education and teacher training, and I have taught English, Religious Education, Citizenship, History and Geography. for over 20 years. This continues to influence my interest in identity, culture, and the wider social contexts in which our lives and relationships take place.
